Cross platform mobile application powered by a custom WordPress API
Volvo are one of the world’s leading bus and coach manufacturers, and they needed a mobile app that could showcase their latest vehicles in a clear, modern and accessible way. We built a brochure style app for both iOS and Android that presents vehicle specifications, high quality imagery and a dealership locator tool so users can quickly find their nearest Volvo specialist.
A key requirement was the ability for Volvo’s team to update app content at any time without releasing new versions to the app stores. Their internal preference was to keep using WordPress as the CMS they already knew, even though WordPress is not typically used as an API driven content source for mobile applications. Rather than force a new system, we engineered a bespoke JavaScript based syncing layer that turned WordPress into a reliable content API for the app.
The result is a smooth, real time content pipeline that keeps the app fully up to date. Volvo’s team can update specifications, media and dealership information in WordPress, and the app seamlessly pulls in the latest content with built in update controls. No store resubmissions, no waiting, no friction, just a flexible CMS powering a polished mobile experience.
